Raymond Reunion during Pacific Alumni Weekend

Save the date for this year’s reunion. Several of you asked for a summer reunion so that it will not conflict with your academic calendars, so we will be meeting the last weekend of June, the 25 – 27th, 2010.
Our main focus for this year’s reunion is recruiting Raymond faculty and staff attendance, as well as all Raymond alumni. We are working with UOP to provide meals gratis for all former Raymond faculty and staff. We also hope to be able to offer stipends for lodging for those faculty and staff who travel from out of town. If you would like to support this effort with your donations, please click on the “contribute” link for information on how to donate money to the Raymond Phoenix Institute.
The reunion will have a different flavor this year. UOP can no longer support reunions scheduled outside of their regular "Pacific Alumni Weekend" so we will be sharing the campus with all alumni. This will allow for a much closer look at what the University is doing these days - they're still interested in educational innovation. If you haven’t seen the campus recently, or reviewed UOPs programs recently, you will be pleasantly surprised.
Raymond Phoenix Institute Board members Wendi Maxwell, Jim Lynch, Bob Sullens, and John Oram are working on the reunion. Any other Raymond folks who would like to help will be warmly welcomed.

McGeorge and Raymond Collaborate

When we founded Raymond Phoenix Institute, we wanted to work together to advance interdisciplinary education at Pacific. We wanted today’s students to enjoy something of the experiences we all cherished.
Beginning at the close of 2008, the board began to explore a possible relationship with the interdisciplinary programs at Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law.
McGeorge welcomed our involvement with open arms. We spoke to the Dean of the Law School, who gave us a substantial amount of her time. She has a strong personal dedication and involvement with McGeorge’s interdisciplinary programs. She spoke at length about the programs and about participation in the programs. Yes, we talked about money, too, but it was money for the programs.
After some months’ careful exploration the board concluded we had found a right fit for this major goal we all have for the Raymond Phoenix Institute. The board decided to set aside $1,000 for an initial contribution and an additional $2,000 to match Raymond graduates’ contributions. It is a good beginning.
At our request, McGeorge prepared a brochure describing its program, including seven separate interdisciplinary projects. We think you’ll find the approach and tone familiar and will be as excited about McGeorge’s programs as we are. There's a link to the brochure in pdf format below.
Please read the brochure and then advise us as to what you can pledge in time and/or money to support any or all of these projects. All contributions are tax deductible.
If you have any questions, feel free to call John Dyer at (916) 208-1096. (That’s right, it is a Sacramento number although John lives in Florida.) We look forward to hearing from you.
